Remarriage, late in life, works sometimes, but at a certain point,
it's more about companionship than anything else. Come to think of it,
that's how a lot of younger folks address it too.
My wife, daughters and I have an agreement. If/when my brain starts to
go (dementia, etc), I'm supposed to take up sky-diving and other
high-risk activities. I'm not into suicide, but an accidental splatter
from 8000 feet is better, for me, than drooling in front of a TV that
is playing "Ellen". I'd rather go out face-planting off of Half-Dome
than face-planting in a bowl of oatmeal.
The problem is that I'll not remember these instructions on my own, so
they are to handle my scheduling of climber and sky-diver events for
me.
