Hi Philippe,
I guess I have the best of both worlds. The 1.4 is warm, the 1.8 is
essentially clear. I can choose the one that suits the mood.
When I first received the 1.4, probably at least 10 yrs ago, I placed it
in the sun in a window for several days. But, at the time, I assumed it
was the front that needed the light treatment. Now, I know that I should
reverse it and treat the rear elements.

I had both, and the 1.4 was 50mm , the 1.8 was a 55 mm if I recall it accurately
Which makes me get my sliding ruler out to get was the effective
aperture diameter actually was since the 1.4 and 1.8 values are ratios
... ;-)
Don't worry about the yellowing - expose the lense to sunlight for a
(long?) while, use the WB correction tool, and enjoy life under
Takumar sunlight :-)

You probably have a decent version, Ken. I thought that there was a
difference between the later versions and the older. Mine is a 6-digit
serial, although I can’t find it now that I look. I have a nice little
50/1.8 which I’ll try on my Fujis.

It’s great to be able to play around like that with old and new, Jim.
I’m going to get my Zuiko 50/1.4 out again and see how it performs. It’s
not a stellar example, as I remember, but it should make a decent
portrait lens.
The OM Zuiko 50/1.4 makes a fantastic portrait lens on 4/3. Not always
the first lens I grab, but when I want a certain look, nothing else
will do. There isn't enough Photoshop Plugins in the world to give you
an OMZ 50/1.4 look.
