I like to use manually focused lenses, but, from recent experience, I've
decided that, if I want eyes to be in focus, I should consider using
autofocus. To go back to the "old reliable", I put the original ZD14-54
lens on my E-1 and looked around for a suitable subject. I settled on
this "sun catcher" on a very cloudy day. I think the AF results are
better than what I have been getting with manual close-ups.
One thing that I have learned, however, is never try to shoot sky divers
with an AF lens, unless you can lock the lens at infinity. The old,
manual lenses do it best.
