Uh-oh! GFS shows that TS Hermine will make landfall on Long Island. The
turn to the north is due to high pressure over Bermuda. Let's hope this one is
not as strong as TS Sandy, but it will be passing over exceptionally warm water
along the way.

>> The hurricane season in both the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific has
>>become very much alive. A tropical depression (soon to be a tropical
>>storm) in the eastern Gulf of Mexico is poised to make landfall in
>>Florida late tomorrow, then cross over to the Atlantic coast, giving
>>everyone up to Cape Hatteras a good soaking. I had thought that would
>>be the end of that one, but this morning NHC shows the post-tropical
>>storm making a turn to the north beginning Sunday, heading towards Maine
>>and New Brunswick.
