The hurricane season in both the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific has become
very much alive. A tropical depression (soon to be a tropical storm) in the
eastern Gulf of Mexico is poised to make landfall in Florida late tomorrow,
then cross over to the Atlantic coast, giving everyone up to Cape Hatteras a
good soaking. I had thought that would be the end of that one, but this
morning NHC shows the post-tropical storm making a turn to the north beginning
Sunday, heading towards Maine and New Brunswick.
Out in Hawai'i, they're very likely going to see their very first recorded
hurricane landfall late today, though CPHC presently shows the path of
Hurricane Madeline being just to the south of the main island. Then next
weekend they get another soaking from Hurricane Lester.
Save your Dixie cups.
