Numerous country pubs and bars in western Alberta offer, or at least
they did as long ago as 1990, a supersized beef steak, along with fries
/ baked potato and a green salad for big appetites. The meal was on the
house if there were no left overs; doggie bags were not allowed. I once
met a coal miner at one such place east of Jasper, AB who did not quite
finish his evening meal and had to pay up BUT he did have his lunch on
the house ........... 70 [seventy] ounce steaks with no bone or gristle
are big!

Biggest pig-out I can recall was at the Texas State Fair in 1996 (Beach
Boys played live...) where I was encouraged to have a turkey leg with a
blooming onion on the side. Would have fed a family of 6 with leftovers...

Undoubtedly, Ken. But Germany, Belgium and France will do you a good job
as well.
I changed trains at Frankfurt a few months ago, over lunchtime. There was
a street market opposite the station where I sat and enjoyed
Wildscheinbratwurst (x2) and Bratkartoffeln with some Gewurztraminer (I
think) from the stall next door). It was utter heaven . . .

Best fair-food I've ever had was in The Netherlands, though. Go
figure. There was this guy grilling burgs, brats and onions and had a
line that stretched a couple hundred people long. I waited at least an
hour in line for I had no idea what, but figured it had to be good. I
was not disappointed. It's been a few years, so I don't remember the
details, but I was told that this guy was legendary there and well
worth the wait. He had a pile of cooking onions on the grill that
looked like a small mountain. The smell wafted over the entire city
center and dragged people in like zombies to brains.
