Piers are you saying that FilmsCanUSA.net has silly prices :-)
Our resident grammarian would want to drop a comma after "holders" in
the third sentence !
Having looked at their web site I was impressed by the image of the
Columbia Gorge on on the Columbia River. I have driven that highway on
the Oregon state side [right river bank] several times between south
central BC and the Oregon coast ...... once got 70mpg in a diesel Jetta
before it spluttered on an empty tank just east of Portland.
US$122.50 for a 35mm film strip carrier is a lot less than finding an
original. For me the issues are two fold; 1. it only takes a four image
film strip and by far most of my strips are 5 and 6 images; 2. It is a
solid one piece jig which means slipping and sliding film strips into a
tight fitting cavity. If the cavity attracts fine particles of dirt or
the film strip becomes bowed sideways or length ways, the film strip
will be abrased.

You need to think laterally, John. There are aftermarket alternatives which
might even be an improvement on the original. They cater for a
significantly wider range of formats, and are a fraction of the silly
prices you have seen for Nikon holders at filmscanusa.net
