Thanks for the comments and suggestions. McAfee came with the thing and has
mucked up a few items in the past.
I was told that Gadot was not coming that evening, "but surely tomorrow"--a few
files were in the folder used by windoze to stash them prior to install---so
ran the darn thing overnight.
Oh, Hello ,Gadot---UPDATED!, just took an eternity. What havoc this wrought on
everything else remains to be discerned.
