Not sure what you mean by " manually focusable Fuji lenses of which I have
only two .......... the 14/2.8 and the 23/1.4. If
only the split image focusing option was available for all Fuji lenses !"
While those two lenses are the only Fuji lenses with a focus scale on the
lens, I have no problem at all using manual focus on the 18/2, 18-55/4 and
55-200/5.6, so long as I have the MCS selector set to M. I can even get a
magnified central section if I press in the rear wheel.
But the digi-rangefinder will not work if you have MCS set to S, as I
understand it.
I can't fathom why MF Assist is greyed out, but I do know why it isn't
included on pages xiv and xv. It's because there is no mention in the main
text itself!

No digi-rangefinder display other than for manually focusable Fuji
lenses of which I have only two .......... the 14/2.8 and the 23/1.4. If
only the split image focusing option was available for all Fuji lenses !
Meanwhile, I am now working out how I can, or if I can, engage the focus
assist feature as well as the manual focus assist features on my X Pro
1. The "MF Assist" feature on the X Pro 1's 5th shooting menu is greyed
out and inoperative. My X Pro 1 owner's manual does not include the MF
Assist feature in the shooting menu index on pages xiv and xv !

Yes, John, and indeed it applies to *any* lens mounted on any APS-C sensor
body (not just Fuji X), the field of view will be about 1.6 times that
expected of a lens with the same focal length, when used on any 35mm full
frame body (not just a 4T!).
It is a property of the sensor dimensions.
More to the point, does it give you the digi-rangefinder display?

A 50mm / f2 M-Konica lens mounted on an X-T1 body appears to give a
horizontal angle of view approximately equal to that from a 75mm or 80mm
lens mounted on an OM4T body.
Is this 1.5 times multiple standard throughout the range of 35mm camera
lenses which are mountable on X Pro 1 and X - T1 bodies?
