Hi all, I keep all my spare lenses in a large set of drawers.
recently i have thinned the herd to finance a 12-40 f2.8 pro lens and a 40-150
f2.8 pro lens for m4/3. I sent them along with some camera bodies to a well
respected camera dealer who does commission and cash sales. Much to my surprise
he found 2 mint in box 50mm f 1.8 lenses had fungus, Tokina ATX 35/70 had
fungus/hazy elements, and Oly 35-107lens also had fungus/ hazy elements.
I have no doubt about the integrity of the dealer, the lenses had not been used
for a number of years and the storage conditions had not been up to standard!!!
A salutary lesson in how to turn money into landfill !! I need to rethink my
camera storage. The deal said that he had in the past been sent a consignment of
lenses - still sealed and boxed - from Olympus. On opening the consignment a
great number of the lenses were found to be suffering from the dreaded
fungus. How do other list members store their equipment? Regards John Duggan,
