As I also like my C-5050Z [serial number 24310276] especially the macro I
function, I tried to find a solution for your problem, but didn't find a
real one.

but pitifully it doesn't address the problem [nor for mine with the E-10]
There are two ways to reset the camera:
A soft reset to factory default shooting settings, but without changing
date and file-numbering, is done either by simultaneously pressing the
"self-timer" and "custom" buttons or by setting the "All Reset" to ON in
SETUP in MODE MENU and then restarting the camera.
A hard reset which basically restarts the firmware. This is done by:
putting the camera in M mode, opening the card door, turning the camera on
and then hold the 'OK' and 'Quickview buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
Select 'Reset' in the menu that appears and press 'OK'.
As you cannot use the camera anymore at the moment and it's telling you the
card door is open, you might as well open the card door in fact and try
this 'hard reset'.
I really don't know whether this will work, but maybe it's worth a try,
unless you found another solution already.
