If I may join this thread, I must admit that I learned something new (to
me) today. I have noticed that, starting with a RAW file, I sometimes
get some barrel distortion when capturing horizontal lines with the X-E1
and 35/2 lens. When I look at the camera-produced JPG, most of the
distortion is missing. I concluded from this that the lens corrections
are missing from the RAW files.
Is this correct?

No, Chuck, it’s a JPG. But provided that I have no banding the results are normally
excellent. In fact, that’s why I output Raw + JPG: the latter format is normally very good
from my Fuji cameras and I don’t need to fiddle with the Raw file.
However, I still produce Raw in case I want to do some deeper fiddling.

But, do you have a raw file to work with?

Yes, and I have PS and a free one, but many who use the internal pano system of
the Fuji cameras enjoy having the facility. You have to take care with your
settings, but the results can be excellent.
And it means that I don’t have to faff around with taking several shots to feed
my deskbound stitching software.

I was about to say the same. There's a lot of good pano software out there and
(possibly) the best is free.

I think I know what you meant by that, Bill. But the Fuji cameras can
do automatic panoramas, when handled with care, which look pretty
good. Also, the new X-Pro2 gives you 6,000 x 3,376 pixels in 16:9
mode; that must be pretty close to xPan shape. But I think I read
somewhere that the X-Pro2 does not have the builit-in panorama
facility . . .
Perhaps because is simply isn't necessary?
