It tickles me to listen to people wax poetic about the wonderful warm,
authentic quality of vinyl. I recall that when I had a rather high-end
audio system after exiting the U.S. Army in 1971, I also had a variety of
anti-static accessories to tone down those pops, hisses and whatnot that
everyone seems to love so much.
I'm about to install an evaporative humidifier down here in my
studio/office and I'm going to invest in an ionizer/air cleaner. I will
probably end up with a ZeroStat, but those things have gotten stupidly
expensive.
One thing I'll probably add at some point is a Quad decoder and up my
Focusrite to the 4-channel input version, and get the software to take 4
wav files and generate a surround DVD-A disc from them. I'd like to be
able to offer the opportunity to have your old Quad LP's digitized (not
the discrete versions - that requires a cartridge and tonearm wired
specifically for Quad).
