> Yes. For professionals, like hedge fund managers...
The price is a little higher than comparatives from other brands. I've
had the pleasure of using the big mamma E-system glass a couple of
times. A friend of ours, here in Iowa, has every F2 and top-dog E-lens
made. They really are in another category of good.
Would I spend this kind of money on such a lens? If I could
financially justify it, yes. As a hobby expenditure? If I spent that
kind of money on hobbies, yes.
Some people spend money on cars, boats, airplanes, fishing, skiing,
video gaming, furniture, wood carving, etc. I see no issue with this
lens. After all, it's still half the price of a typical Leica lens. :)
Would I PERSONALLY buy that lens? Nope. But that has to do with my own
preferences and directional shift in photography. I do wish I knew
where we were ending up, later this year, as I would be fat with
Weddings. Two more bookings and a new Sony A7something will be in the
kit this spring.
Meanwhile, I do love the old OM Zuiko 300/4.5 lens. It will just have
to do for now. And unlike this new 300/4, it is backward compatible
with my OM bodies and the E-bodies and even Canon bodies.
