Across the whole country perhaps too many to count. Many
pubs/restaurants brew their own. Most are too small to distribute in
other than a very small area.
Some of the best beer we've had recently came from the Holy City Brewing
Co. in Charleston. It's available many places in South Carolina but you
do have to look for it. "Holy City" is a nickname for Charleston.

I haven’t Chuck, but I’ve heard enough about the renaissance in beer to be certain

I guess you haven't been to the states lately. Where I live we have a local
beer club. We meet once/month and taste 5 or 6 (mostly) craft beers that can
be found not too far away. Last months meeting had mostly dark beers that
ranged from about 6% to 11% ABV. The prior meeting featured a half dozen beers
made by my neighbor. They ranged from about 6% to 8% ABV. The next meeting is
coming up soon. I'm looking forward to it.
