I went to college with a clarinet player who had been a teletype
operator in a Navy Seabee unit during WWII. He had the fastest fingers
I have ever seen!

The same argument could be made about learning how to type. I still think
that learning how to type on a typewriter instead of a computer is the best
way. It teaches basic skills and thought process that is lost when you go at
it from a soft environment.
