And note that the Avanti has most of the fuselage on front of the wing and
not much aft of it. So, a lot of structure and stuff in the front. I would
assume that things like batteries are located closer to the nose.

Those engines and props are much lighter. Remember that the turboprop
powered DC-3s have the prop disk almost even with the nose for balance
because of the lighter engines.

It was a consequence of using a pusher engine behind the centre of
gravity and centre of pressure.
Makes me wonder how the Avanti can even get itself off the ground.
Must have two tons of lead in the nose. :)
