I've measured another 6" this morning at 9:30. The pond overflowed
again but the rain seems to have stopped and the level of the overflow
stream has been slowly dropping.
My final tally for rainfall since about 7:30am Friday is at 21.6". That
doesn't include the 6" I emptied out of the rain guage Friday morning at
7:30 which is when I really started to pay attention to measuring it. I
think maybe 4" or so was really due to this storm but can't say for sure.
In any case the house has always remained about 2 feet above the highest
water level so I feel comfortable that this house has passed its water
test. I won't worry about the house flooding again until a Cat 4
hurricane tries to run up the Waccamaw River at high tide. FEMA maps
say I'll have 3-4 feet of water in the house if that happens. I won't
stick around to see it.
