Hi Chris,
Other than my ceiling damage, I have been "out of the loop" on the
development of this one. I know that Arnold Center has done extensive
development testing on both the airframe and the engine, but I know
nothing of the outcome of that work.
I did see a comment by one of the test pilots to the effect that you
cannot dogfight with this airplane. I'm not sure what its mission
really is.

I have a bad feeling about that aircraft, Jim. And it’s not because of the
effect of its shockwaves on your property :-)
I cannot help feeling that the UK is wasting a huge amount of money.

The only shock wave about which he needs to be concerned would be from F-35s
flying out of Eglin AFB. At his low mass, he would probably never know it.
Shock waves can be damaging, though. When they were test flying them out of
Atlanta, their supersonic corridor was from East Tennessee to some point west
of us. The sheet rock ceiling in my kitchen is in need of extensive repair.
