<<Is there any software which can give a measure of the noise in an image ? I <<imagine noise reduction software can do this. Well kinda sorta. One way to standardize the image is just keep the lens cap on at given ISO, exposure time. The image then can be pushed by "x" amount to bring up the noise and this does correlate to visible noise in pushed shadows or the hot pixel noise seen in A7RII---oddly much much worse than A7R---perhaps due to BSI sensor. The new firmware alters the Raw file--am not sure it is that much better, just different. Arrgh--don't like that or understand that. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/524499/a7rii-d800-ISO3200-LENR-OFF.jpg Noise sd or variance calculation--easier with grey scale obviously. http://www.kyxk.net/mwg-internal/de5fs23hu73ds/progress?id=C4st2ZUXDNGB4bf4-MzZ-1X7lJt5UXAEf-NHjzvW0x4,&dl http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/image-noise-2.htm Please turn down the NOISE in OM A7rII, Sony, Mike -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
