But true. It was indeed a twin, but the probabilities of an engine failure
is several orders of magnitude higher in a twin than a single. There were
customers that wanted to move up to the "safety margin" of a twin, and
others that wanted thir you know what to appear bigger, but Cessna worked
with the FAA to get a new rating developed for centerline thrust twins. It
offered the opportunity to fly something with two engines but the rating
didn't allow you to fly a "real" twin. Further, after some unfortunate
situations, there was a special indicator lamp on the panel that lit if the
rear engine wasn't running, and the manual was changed to note that it was
MANDATORY to start the rear one first. The cabin was essentially identical
to a 210, but engine maintenance was twice that of the 210. Not a real
bargain. Oh, and the control forces were much higher than other cessnas, due
to the circuitous routing of the cables.

You make some very strange posts, sometimes, Bill.

If it's a skymaster (mixmaster as it was called around town and in certain
parts of the company), it's good riddance. It only served one purpose: to
get cessna single owners in to a twin without them bailing ship to piper
or beech. Of course a rating in the mixmaster didn't qualify you to fly
any other twin, so, hope you love the additional engine work.
