Only until you have been to the remote corners of the Shetland Islands
north of Scotland will you have heard an impenetrable local dialect !
That was where my mother came from but after 65 years in northern
England she still carried a great deal of her childhood dialect.

I found it pretty easy to communicate in Edinburgh and environs back
in '77. It was the Midlands, Manchester the worst if I remember
correctly, where I found the local dialect impenetrable.
