Away from a vehicle, I rely on my iPhone for GPS tracking and maps (YouNeedAMap where there isn't cell coverage.) I do
have a couple of small phone rechargers in the bag.
And we don't always have a car. At the Valley of the Gods B&BB I left the tablet on the charger all day while we
explored and it was ready to go when we got back. With a couple of backup batteries for the camera I never needed the
car charger cable.
That's the way to go. For our little RV, when we are often away from 'shore' power for days at a time, I've got a little
12v-110v converter that is lower draw than the built-in one, and can charge the netbook with very little draw from the
12v battery.
