Not necessarily. I went through a number of M42 adapters for the E-500
before coming up with this one from the Chinese eBay seller roxsen:
<http://www.ebay.com/itm/M42-Screw-Mount-Lens-to-Olympus-4-3-Four-Thirds-Adapter-black-E-3-30-400-500-510-/181006801513?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a24d89a69>
It's a 2-piece design that lets you rotate the adapter on the lens and
then tighten a set screw so that the lens is oriented the way you desire. I've
bought a number of adapters from them since, and the quality (finish,
close-fitting) is consistent.
