Probably because much of what we take as shutter noise is actually the
diaphragm activation lever and its interaction with the lens and its
aperture lever.
I just dug out an OM-2n and an OM-4 (not a Ti) and listened to them with
and without a lens (50/1.4 set at f/8). After listening to them a few
times I could probably identify them by the sound alone but it's only a
different sound, not a louder or softer sound from either.
So, I don't believe one is louder than the other nor would I expect it
since the mechanisms are basically the same.
