An eclectic selection, for sure!
I purchased that baud rate IC about 20 years ago for a college project
(that I never had time to complete - I still have the PCB around here
somewheres) at something like AUD26.00 (plus the weird crystal). I
later found I could do this with half a 74ls04, a 74ls93 (set for divide
by 13), a cd4040, and a much cheaper integer Mhz crystal for a couple
of dollars - the tradeoff was a 0.16% bitrate error.
I won a Weller soldering station for another project incorporating that
one!
