Yeh, that little outfit with what appears to be one main developer bit
off quite a bit. Some of the pattern issues seems to be a problem with
the
de-bayerization and nothing to do with the super-resolution algorithm.
There seems to be no other options for this type of multi-shot
resoltuion enhancement outside of complex plug-ins for matlab which
look like waaaay too much work.
Curiously looking at the algorithm and comments from the developer,
using a hardware approach with known fixed displacements of the sensor
while the cam is locked down solid on a pod should
allow for more consistent enhancement of detail closer to the
theoretical maximum---bodes well for the new Oly. Currently 6-8 raw
files generally max out the detail enhancement with Photoacute though
noise always go down a bit more with more files. I don't think the Oly
and Photoacute approaches will be dramatically different in the overall
algorithm used . Comparison is more like......
