It will vary, John, depending on how much money the individual can get together
to pay for the requisite training.
With no money troubles, the right-hand seat of a large airliner would be
achievable within a couple of years. The youngsters will normally be installed
by a training company in Spain or New Zealand for about a year, with a job
arriving some time after that. Their progress through their training will
depend on their ability, of course, but most who are accepted on courses are
guaranteed a job before too long.
