It's rather exciting seeing the action on the "bridge cameras" again. It's
like the glory days of 2/3" sensor all over again. Yes, I still use my
Minolta A1 as it was such a brilliant camera.
Without handholding them, I'd be hard pressed to choose between the Sony
RX10 and the FZ1000. Up to 200mm, they're both pretty much F2.8 lenses. The
FZ1000 does a bit of optical wizbangery to get to the 400mm equivalent.
Specification-wise, it's a toss-up with the slight edge to the Panasonic
because of the superior EVF. I'd select the Panasonic just because of that.
But, the Sony has the Minolta A-series heritage and is a bit superior in
every other way. Very tough to choose between.
A camera that I think is certainly worth looking at is the Panasonic
DMC-LX100. While the zoom lens itself is a bit stunted, this camera really
clicks off the checklist of must-wants in every other category.
