Late tomorrow Bermuda will take a direct hit from Hurricane Gonzalo, which
will still be a category 3 storm. There will be substantial damage on the
islands.
Gonzalo will continue to the northeast, weakening as it enters into colder
North Atlantic waters. It is forecast to make landfall on the British Isles on
Tuesday as a post-tropical storm. Expect to see strong winds and heavy rains
for a few days, especially in Ireland and Scotland.
At the same time, Hurricane Ana will make landfall in Hawai'i as a
catergory 1 storm. This will be the first time in recorded history that
Hawai'i has taken a direct hit from a hurricane. Ana will be just to the
southwest of the main island of Hawai'i when it arrives, which means that they
will experience the strongest part of the storm and the highest storm surge.
