First apologies, although I have been an OM list member for ~14 (?) years ,and
used to be a fairly active member, I have not been active for a long while.
I predate the famed Doris Fang!
I recently acquired a Sony A7 to upgrade to full frame, from using OM glass on a
Canyon APS-C.
I really like the small size of the camera and even the largish kit lens is
quite useable, but I want to get an OM-Nex adapter.
I could not find too much in the archives, but maybe I missed the discussion?
A quick search on ebay found a large number of vendors, with prices varying
from about $7 to $145,most average in the $10-20 range with shipping.
Fotoga seems the most common low cost manufacturer offered.
Pixco also seems common, but the Pixco adapters vary a bit in the detail design
shown in pictures.
Some adapters are tapered on exterior, others are straight with stepped
interior.
Some seem to have some baffling or threading/ridges, to reduce flare, others do
not.
most have OM mount in bright plated brass, a few others dark coated (to reduce
flare?) , (maybe to cut cost with anodized Al finish?)
My previous experience with adapters is ,some of them have rather loose
tolerance, so lens wobbles when locked in place or worse they don't lock
reliably.
Flare is a problem with sensor reflections,so the dull mount may well be and
advantage?
Some of adapters have stop down screws that can be removed,if you want to use
the OM squeeze shutdown tab.
Others have more robust flat metal stop down tab, but it is not obviously
removable?
Here is a list of brands I found, although some are likely rebranded by seller:
Fotoga
Big-Is,with and without tripod mount
Rainbow imaging
Diplo
Kipon (makes shift ,tripod mount adapters, more expensive)
heaven stores shift adapter (same as Kipon? )
Kindai, very expensive
Pixco ,ADPLO ?
Some pixco have ridged interior reducing flare, but not all?
Roxsen
Phottix from cameta with tripod mount, relatively expensive. Seems to be
relabled cheaper tripod mount adapter sold by others?
Dacheng
paxlycom (CA distributor, has thousands in stock)
ulata
Any recommendations on these or other vendors adapters, or warnings about ones
you have used?
