Unfortunately, celestial things generally require more light rather than
more magnification or resolution. Even my 8" Celestron is still a bit
weak in the light gathering department. You tend to notice that a lot
after looking through a 12 or 16" scope. :-)

Sure was. It gave me the broken equatorial mount that I was looking for
to make a vernier adjusted camera tripod mount, and now the 'scope proper is
being overhauled and put tp use. The tripod that came with it is in very good
shape, but I can't put any of my mounts on it. Easier to make an adapter for
the other tripods.
This 'scope should give me the resolution to look at all sorts of
celestial things.
