"Photos" sounds like a slightly beefed-up iPhoto. I'm doing fairly well
with LR, and now that I took them up on the Photographer bundle, I can also
pop out to PSCC if I need more muscle.
It's a lot like when they killed Final Cut Pro and went with FCX - it's
dumbed-down for the general public.
