Boris,
Concur, it's from around Battery Spencer, west side of the bridge at the
north end, but I don't know the specific geography at that spot; Google
Maps' satellite view suggests nothing higher there.
If you have oodles of time, start in Sausalito and walk the coastal
roads & paths up to the vista point and then cross (under) to the
location on the west side. Didn't do the latter, crossed the bridge
instead (in fear, walking right down the middle of the
pedestrian/cyclist path - I don't like heights) on my way back to
downtown San Francisco. Well, not quite walked all the way, I cheated,
only walked to the Galileo Academy area and then took buses back to
Union Square.

Boris,
From the position of the bridge shadow it looks to be around 2pm. It
looks to have been taken from within the Golden Gate National Recreation
Area which is accessed on the north side of the GGB. I was there many years
ago and remember there being great views of the bridge but I don't remember
if there are higher elevations than the one shown in your photo.

I sent this message last night, but it never made it to the list:
I would like to take a shot at taking this picture of the Golden Gate
Bridge:

1. Can someone confirm that this is a morning shot?
2. This location is easy to find?
3. Tell me if it is possible to take it from a few hundred yards further
away and up. I am wondering if by using a longer focal length the picture,
although flatter, it would bring the "other" bank/coast closer.
Thanks in advance.
Best
Boris
