I'm surprised people in sunny climates don't carry solar panel on their hats
- ideal for keeping the mobile phone charged.

A solar solution like Charlie suggested might be of use. With the 12v cables
for the chargers and a 12v splitter, several hours of full sun every day or
three day might keep you charged up.
A less than cursory search revealed nothing about power draw using the
battery input. A quick check of one of my generic chargers, shows 12v input
current of only about 0.1 Amp. You could get Tom to measure draw for your
Leica chargers with a depleted battery installed.
If you then get a solar cell with 4-5x that capacity, you should be able to
use both chargers at once in somewhat less than full sun. Bigger cell = less
light needed.
Somehow, I'll bet Tom can work out the details. Engineers have their uses.
:-)
With all those batteries and a few sunny days, you should be entirely
independent, if need be.
