Why waste, Chris? Think of the old buildings we so admire today: Westminster,
St Paul's etc.--were those a waste of money too? I love modern architecture,
whether we are talking EU institutions, the Louvre, the Guggenheim in Bilbao,
whatnot. We are richer today than any society in history--sure we should put
our mark on our cities? And an important institution deserves to be housed in
an impressive building, yes.
