Nah, you're just not trying hard enough.

O.Winston Link was a famous railroad photographer in the steam era who
liked to photograph at night.  He'd set up huge banks of flashbulbs along
the tracks (with the railroad's permission) all wired together with a
trigger.  Got awesome night shots of huge steam locos that way.
