Aluminum recycling plants require a lot of water! The Shah of Iran chose
to build a major aluminum recycling plant in the middle of a desert plateau
to provide jobs for the people there. All of the water and raw materials
had to be transported in and all of the products had to be trucked out over
many, many hazardous miles. We left when the Shah did but Iralco (Iranian
Aluminum Company confiscated from Reynolds) asked us to come back two years
later. We went and stayed two weeks and left. The attitude toward
Americans had changed drastically. Tom's office had sheep wandering around
in it.
