I understand Bob's rant in this matter but there is a technical use of the word
'adventure' here and it is a fairly serious criticism, both in actual meaning
and in implicitly irony. The term 'adventurism' is a heavy charge which I think
neatly defines the US involvement. It does not diminish the appalling
consequences.
And I suspect that Nick Ut's image of the napalmed child had an even stronger
impact - there was no evasion possible there.
