Well I doubt I'll change your mind, but the problem with brussel sprouts
is that most people over cook them which makes them taste like stale
cabbage. The method Tina describes is a very good one. Another is to boil
briskly for 8 minutes then douse in cold water. Trim and split length-wise.
Then sear the cut side in a bit of oil, butter or bacon rendering, a little
salt & pepper. This brings out the nutty-sweet flavor. As for being a "fart
food", well it is a cruciferous vegetable (like collards, cabbage, etc.)
and it will have that effect on some people. What can I say?
I'll tackle broccoli another time.
