A good plan. I also carry a spare door key in my wallet. AAA will make plastic
ones in a credit card size/shape holder
for some cars. For my convertible, I have a simple, cheap copy of the door key
that won't start the car, but will get me
in to get the keys that will.
It works perfectly, as I've not needed it since I got it. :-)
I thought about such a thing for the Dodge-Benz, before I realized it doesn't
have a lock all button that will work when
a door is open. Basically, you need to either manually lock each door - - no,
wait, the doors won't lock when they are
open. I think you might be able to lock yourself out by manually locking the
other doors, then crawling over the back
seat/bed, through the cargo doors. Not sure.
