Thanks for that. But doesn't the oil remain separated from the water? I know
that BMW's extended service intervals are not universally trusted, though. And
I carried out a precautionary intermediate oil change on my car at 8,000 miles,
reckoning that a young engine would be most likely to need a bit of extra TLC
to assist in its longevity.
I was watching some of our little Grob aircraft being refuelled today, in the
pouring rain. I asked an engineer if water ingress wasn't a problem and his
reply was to the effect that it was minimal and that the water remained
separated anyway. However, they do check for water content in the fuel every
day.
I know that that's a different problem, but it made me think of it.
