Is the repair goo a permanent repair? No tire store in the US will repair a
run-flat, but that is because of liability concerns.

I believe that you might have made the mistake of using the recommended tyre
pressures ;-) If you over-inflate by about 0.2bar you have even wear
(instead of too much shoulder wear) and less “tramlining". But my X1 feels
very good whatever the pressure. Indeed, I have recently had a puncture and
it felt no different. Mind you, the sidewalls were buggered (technical tyre
term), perhaps because the previous owner had run the tyres with too low
pressures for too long, and I had to change the tyre. But the tyre place
had a replacement, albeit a Dunlop SP2000, ready to put on.
And why have a spare wheel? You can carry a small pump and some of the
repair goo instead.
Finally, the cost of your tyres was a bit of a problem, but I can get decent
run flats for £160 a corner. And anyway, my P7s have lasted 27k with still
over 4mm to go.
So, I’m happy . . .
