It isn't defaced, the silhouetted soldier is a wooden cutout hanging in
front of the flag. In amy case, the US Flag Code (the law that sets out
how the flag should be displayed and cared for) is not enforced because
defacing the flag is often a political act and thus protected as free
speech.
