I feel for you. Does the E-510 not have a manual focussing aid or view?
The E-3 would have been only slightly larger than the 510 and might have done a
better job in avoiding noise and camera shake.
But I did get a feel for the place and the orchestra, so your endeavours were
at least partly successful, thank you.
