Re: > Then won't NZ be miffed?, not any more.
Since the financial return fro selling wool ( and mutton) has dramatically
decreased in the
last 10++ years, and the farmers have discovered bank loans, how to capture the
water
from our streams, rivers and aquifers and spray-irrigate land, farm dairy cows
by the
hundreds of thousand, and export an amazing range of dairy products and their
derivatives
to the extremely lucrative mainland Chinese market, dairy cows and their smelly
effluent
nearly outnumber sheep and their involuntary byproducts. On all except the
driest steepest
country, where merino sheep grown for their extremely fine wool and exported to
contracted specialist weavers and mens suit makers in ( eg Italy), reign
supreme. Such
sales techniques make merino farmers into price setters rather than the price
takers under
the traditional auction system, to which the rest of the (coarse-wool)
wool-growers stupidly
remain wedded, despite the best efforts of forward-thinking strategists..
