I've slept in similar on an MSTS ship in 1960 and on Coast Guard Cutters in the late 60s-early 70s. I liked the top rack I had on the Dexter. Hard to slip into past a big pipe, but lots of space above once in (relative to having a butt a couple of inches from you nose.) I managed to get lost four racks in on the bottom for three days on a reserve summer training cruise before they found me.
