Yes, it is, Jez.
I just bought skinny laptops for my kids and enabled Windows Defender after
removing the third-party programs that came with. Defender seems very
nice, but what's especially nice is just being able to forget about it,
rather than being constantly pestered about upgrades. I ended up liking
Windows 8 much better than I thought I would once I figured out a couple
tricks. My daughter's PC is a Lenovo with some touch screen capability and
that's pretty addictive.
