Despite the costs of some items (cars, booze, ...) Norway is right up there
close to the top of living standards. There is money just squirting out of
the ground (in the form of black gold and gas) and IIRC [ I haven't looked
up the details - one of you will :-) ] in the next few years they will have
so much related tax revenue that they would be able to stop personal taxes
completely and just fund the country from the interest on their collective
savings. Exactly the opposite of most countries where the interest on the
deficit is consuming an increasing amount of the GDP.
And it's a beautiful country!
