I will never forget the occasional de-coking of my TR6. There was much noise
and geryish black smoke and then it ran great. For a while...

Yup. My old Wolesley 15/60 (a posh Cambridge) sorely needed a de-coke,
but I never got a round tuit, until climbing away from Bridge of Orchy
one day. It suddenly burst into life and accelerated away up the hill
like a teenager after a bad pair of flares.
Up to that point it was sluggish on any sort of ramp, or into a stiff
breeze.
